We currently only have Reception and Year 1 children at
Brambles Primary Academy.
Each year we will be growing!
At Brambles Primary Academy our Curriculum builds on prior underrating, deepens knowledge and enhances skills that excite learning and promote achievement and success.
We have developed four drivers that shape our curriculum, bringing about the aims and, values of our Academy and Trust to strengthen all that we do to; fostering independence and resilience through all subject groups:
- Communication and enquiry
- Physical and mental well being
- Our World
These are all underpinned and include the core subjects – English, Maths, Science and Computing.
We are committed and passionate about providing a curriculum with breadth that allows all of our students to achieve the following:
Be inspired by the world around them…
- Preparing them for life in modern Britain.
- Promote respect, curiosity and fascination for their communities and the wider world.
- Offering a wide range of exciting, quality learning opportunities to experience local, national and international culture.
Be ready for and excited by the next stage of their education and on into their futures…
- Providing challenges that motivate, inspire and lead to a lifelong interest in learning.
- Preparing them for and exciting them to seek further education throughout their life time.
- Becoming adventurous and aspirational of their own abilities and to challenge their own thinking.
Secure achievement and success...
- Providing unique and individual opportunities for all children’s attainment, achievement and celebrations.
- Instilling independence and confidence to achieve.
- Allow children to achieve their personal best.
- Becoming innovators and risk takers.
We strongly believe that the curriculum does provide children with unique opportunities to challenge and inspire enquiry. An inquisitive child is an independent thinker wanting to know why’s, what’s, who’s, when’s and where’s, to understand the world and how it works at a deeper and more creative level. Use of language and understanding the art of conversation is an essential life skill that through our curriculum the children have opportunity to learn and develop. We methodically plan for the transfer of taught skills and knowledge of learning to enable children to develop and expand their abilities year on year. Ultimately, we ensure that children are nurtured through their learning journey at Brambles Primary Academy and learn to love and be excited by learning.
Our carefully crafted curriculum balances the national expectations and an enriching range of experiences allowing our children to flourish. Our curriculum is pivoted around experiential learning, we understand and advocate the importance of children being able to have practical opportunities to live-out their learning. Every theme is planned around first-hand experiences.
Continuous provision enables all children to challenge and expand their thinking, transferring knowledge and skills in all they explore. Continuous provision is seen in all classrooms across the whole school.
Clear strategic planning allows the curriculum to be dynamic and adapt to the context of the wider world, local area, our Academy and children’s needs. Age related expectations combine the acquisition of knowledge and development of skills to create a purposeful and exciting learning journey for every child. The curriculum has high expectations to combine transferable skills, demonstrate a breadth of vocabulary and develop strong cross curricular links.
Outstanding classroom environments stimulate and engage quality thinking and reasoning, they are an extension and enhancement to the indoor classroom provision.
Children are highly skilled in ambitious questioning, thinking inquisitively and have the opportunity to develop the use of transferable specific language. Provision provides explorative and practical investigative opportunities to ensure unique and adventurous experiences enhance children’s ability to be experts in communication and enquiry through all themed learning.
Our curriculum supports children to develop key life skills such as independence; resilience; innovation; creativity, enquiry; analysis and problem solving.
We will measure how effectively our Curriculum helps our pupils develop into well rounded individuals who embody our values and carry with them the knowledge, skills and attitudes which will make them lifelong learners and valuable future citizens. Through developing an understanding of metacognition, preparing themselves to be a lifelong learners.
Learning is measured through careful analysis of application of skills across the curriculum; showing how acquisition of knowledge is enhanced dramatically by expectations to evidence quality thinking and demonstrate individual understanding.
