Important Information

The gates will open from 8:30am. The class register will be taken at 8:45am and learning will begin immediately after this. It is vital that pupils are on time to school so that they do not miss any important learning.

Pupils should bring to school each day:

A water bottle with their name on
Suitable clothing for the weather to ensure they are comfortable during outdoor break times
A packed lunch (if required)
Children can being in their own healthy snacks for play time

Pupils are to be collected from school at 3:15pm

P.E. and Swimming

4 Pine have outdoor P.E. every Monday and swimming every Wednesday
4 Ash have outdoor P.E. every Wednesday and Friday
Children should come to School in their P.E kits. Jewellery and watches must be removed for P.E and Swimming lessons

Homework is given out every Friday and is due back the following week. Homework is optional to complete

Multiplication

Children in year 4 should know all of their times tables (up to 12 x 12) in preparation for the multiplication in the summer term. We will practise these in class and it would be beneficial for children to practise these at home. Children should be able to answer each question within 6 seconds.

Class dojo will be used to pass on messages and information so please ensure that you have access to this

This half term we will be learning...

In English, we will be using the text Flood to write setting descriptions, focusing on creating atmosphere and using descriptive language to help the reader imagine the scene. We will then study Once Upon a Raindrop and write an explanation text about the water cycle. Throughout these units, we will continue to develop our use of expanded noun phrases, fronted adverbials, conjunctions and accurate punctuation to make our writing more detailed, informative and engaging.

In Maths, we will be learning about multiplication and division. This will include recalling and using multiplication facts, understanding the relationship between multiplication and division, solving calculations using mental and written methods, and applying our knowledge to solve reasoning and problem-solving questions.

In Science, we will be learning about Sound. This will include identifying how sounds are made and understanding that they are caused by vibrations. We will explore how vibrations travel through different materials to reach our ears, investigate how pitch and volume can change, and discover how sounds become quieter as the distance from the sound source increases.

In Geography, we will be learning about Rivers and developing our geographical knowledge of the world. This will include locating countries using maps, atlases and globes, exploring key physical features such as rivers and the water cycle, and learning about how rivers shape the landscape. We will also investigate aspects of human geography, including land use, settlements, trade links and natural resources around the world.

In R.E., we will be learning about faiths within our local community. This will include exploring the different religions and beliefs represented in our area, identifying similarities and differences between faiths, and developing an understanding of how shared values help communities live and work together respectfully.
